Linda Y. Leitz, PhD is a CFP® and has been in the financial industry since 1979. She is also enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Before becoming a financial professional, Linda held several executive positions in the banking industry. She began her career as a bank examiner. Linda has a PhD in personal financial planning from Kansas State University, an MBA from Southern Methodist University, and a BA in business administration from Principia College.
Linda helps individuals and families with their long term financial goals, consulting on Investments, Retirement Planning, Education Funding, Estate Planning, Tax Planning, and Goal Setting. She also helps people in the midst of a divorce resolve financial issues and helps widows and widowers after the death of their spouse. Linda writes and speaks on personal finance issues and is the author of two books – The Ultimate Parenting Map to Money Smart Kids and We Need to Talk – Kids & Money After Divorce.
Linda is active in many community and professional activities. She served on the 2016-17 Commission on Standards for the Certified Financial Planning Board, was formerly chair of the national board of directors of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors and service on the West Region Board of that organization. She is past president of the Pikes Peak Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and of the High Noon Sertoma Club. The Pikes Peak Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners named Linda the 1998 Business Owner of the Year. She has been or is currently involved with various organizations on their boards or other committees: The Colorado Springs Utilities Policy Advisory Committee, the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement and the Estate Planning Council. As a fee-only financial planner Linda is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, the Financial Planning Association, the National Association of Tax Professionals and the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners. As a leader in the financial planning industry Linda is the author of the book titled The Ultimate Parenting Map to Money Smart Kids. She has been quoted in several national publications including The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, and Morningstar Advisor, and she has appeared on CSNBC. She also works as a volunteer instructor to new financial advisors with the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners.
Linda has three children. Her hobbies include reading, movies, hiking, and knitting.
