Philip L. Stockton, Principal and Founder of TechGen Financial, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and a Registered Investment Advisor in the state of Massachusetts. Philip’s mission is to help families and small business owners reach financial independence faster than their peers. His background in high tech start-ups combined with his financial knowledge provides him with the insight to successfully guide clients, especially those in the high tech community, to reach their financial goals.
Philip spent the first 10 years of his career working for small software start-up companies that primarily developed engineering automation tools. In his final position in the High Tech world he was responsible for creating cost justifications and analysis for multi-million dollar enterprise software system purchases. When the last company ran out of money, Philip decided it was time to change careers but he wanted to stay connected to the world of high tech start-up companies.
“I always enjoyed working for Start-ups, all the energy and enthusiasm that comes from creating an entirely new product and then the challenge of getting out in front of people to explain how this new product will save them time and money,” Philip stated.
Reflecting back on his career he realized “The one thing that kept me sane through all of the ups and downs that Start-ups go through was the knowledge that the financial plan that my advisor and I had put together accounted for the volatile career I was in.” With that he joined Cambridge Cape Cod Advisors in 2006 to work along side his financial advisor of ten years.
Philip graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and received his Certificate of Financial Planning from Boston University in May of 2010. Philip was certified to use the CFP® marks by the CFP Board in March of 2011 and is currently a CFP® practitioner. He also holds a certification as a College Planning Specialist (CCPS) from the National Institute of Certified College Planners.
In 2008 he founded TechGen Financial located in Sharon MA. “My goal for TechGen Financial is to help young families build and implement a comprehensive financial plan for college and retirement without the stress that is normally associated with finance.” stated Philip.
