Chip is a NAPFA-Registered advisor, member of the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners (ACP), and a Registered Investment Advisor in the State of New York. He chaired ACP’s Board of Directors during 2008.
He holds a graduate degree in Accounting from New York University and received his B.A. from Colgate University in 1974. He is a member of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Youth Development Committee of the Chamber Foundation. In addition, he and his wife, Karen Hansen Simon, were honored with the Chamber of Commerce's "Community Spirit Award" in February, 2016. He is an active member of the Hudson Valley Collaborative Divorce and Dispute Resolution Association and the Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council. Chip was recognized by the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley for promoting charitable strategies to clients.
Chip’s observations have appeared in columns by nationally syndicated financial writers like Humberto Cruz, as well as in MONEY magazine, the NY Times, Interest.com, MSN Money, and local publications. He has presented many seminars locally about various areas of financial planning.
Chip has been a resident of Dutchess County, New York since 1991 and is married to Karen Hansen, a retired partner from the Poughkeepsie-based Sedore and Company, CPAs, and living proof of Chip's skill in retirement planning. His daughter, Emma, is a vocal performance graduate of the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam.
