Why I Joined ACP

ACP is a non-profit community of tax focused financial planners whose practices are built on the retainer model. Membership is a professional complement to other affiliations such as NAPFA, AICPA, and others – so what does ACP add to one’s practice?

For John Konetzny, the value is in the community. “ACP advisors have the whole alliance which is comprised of CFP’s, CFA’s, CPA’s, EA’s, PhD’s and J.D.’s to assist with complex situations when needed; everyone is willing to help everyone. We call it an incredible brain trust. The benefit to our clients is having the knowledge of over a hundred financial planners available.”

For Jonathan Heller, it’s ACP’s commitment to a tax focus. “New clients are often surprised that I want to review back taxes. They are familiar with a tax preparer, whose focus is on the past, but not a tax-focused advisor who looks ahead to potential opportunities from a tax perspective. When a review of past returns yields an opportunity to amend those returns and put IRS payments back into their pockets – or investments – they’re convinced.”

For many, it’s the training and tools that comprise the renowned ACP System. As an ACP member, there is no need for off the shelf financial planning software; ACP offers all the tools necessary to provide comprehensive financial planning advice so that you can focus on starting up your practice and bringing on clients.

Lois Basil attributes the success of her business to her ACP training. “My business would not be where it is today if not for the Success Program. The tax strategies, planning concepts and tools it provides really aren’t available anywhere else.”

Steve Clark agrees. “Thanks to ACP, the organization and the members, for helping me to acquire the knowledge, tools, business model, and confidence to start my own financial planning firm. I signed my very first annual retainer client today. Now what do I do? Just kidding! Because of ACP I know exactly what to do next.”

Stop by the ACP Booth 417 at NAPFA today and make an appointment to meet an ACP advisor and ask them why they joined.
